I think, understandably, I had a restless night for whilst I was looking forward to my Bone Marrow extraction I was somewhat apprehensive not knowing really what to expect. Having showered and dressed the theatre staff arrived again spot on time and took me directly into theatre where I had to wait a further 20 minutes as Doctor Yang had been delay in the emergency dept. This compounded my apprehension whilst I waited as I just wanted to get this procedure over and done with. I was told prior to the operation that I would be given a general anaesthetic, great I thought I wouldn't know a thing until waking up in my bedroom - wrong! The anaesthetist couldn't find a vein as due to the amount of drips I'd had my veins by now were starting to collapse. I had to make do with a local anaesthetic. Well you can imagine by this time I was cart wheeling around the theatre!! The procedure went ahead and all I felt was a little tugging but I nonetheless nearly chewed my way through the mattress!

I returned to my room feeling completely woozy and worn out so they must have given me something. Richard in his usual caring mode fed me through a straw with some cuppa soup I took along with me from home. Rich watched a DVD whilst I promptly went back to sleep and awoke just as it was finishing. Determined not to stay in bed I arose at 3pm still a little sore but I just wanted to get out and get some fresh air. Rich did a brill pasta with sauce before we went to explore a little Chinese culture. Outside a Chinese Diner we were stopped and asked for a demonstration of what my powerchair could do, so I gladly obliged. We later returned and had a little gathering of all patients as Lyn & Sue were returning to Australia in the early hours. I was somehow nominated to provide a speech and a toast to their good health and indeed safe journey. Such nice people and fun to be around I will miss them quite a bit.
