STOURBRIDGE’S parliamentary candidates are to receive an election campaign grilling from the town’s pensioners.

Four of the five local candidates will answer questions posed to them by members of Stourbridge Pensioners Convention at Age Concern, in the Elton Centre, St John’s Road, on Friday, May 1.

Stourbridge Pensioners Question Time Election 2015 will see Chris Bramall (Lib Dem), Jim Carver (UKIP), Margot James (Conservative) and Pete Lowe (Labour) answer questions on a variety of topics which concern elderly people.

The topics include pensions, the NHS, free prescriptions, concessionary travel, dignity in care, personal care, fuel costs and the winter fuel allowance.

Bob Mitchell, secretary of the pensioner’s convention, said: “We are urging pensioners to come along and put their questions to the candidates.

“We will be covering a lot of topics which are of great concern to pensioners and the candidates will also be taking questions on specific Stourbridge issues.”

Christian Kiever, the Green Party representative, has been invited to the event, which will run between 11am and 12.30pm, but is unable to attend.

To have the chance to pose a question to the candidates, let the group know it in advance by emailing spc.wmpc@gmail.com, visiting the Age Concern office, or sending a text to 07938 528811.

In all cases a name is required to be able to ask a question and visitors to the event will receive a free tea or coffee and biscuits.
