Steve's dads' football contacts are really enhancing our tour experience.

At Cardiff today we were able to go onto the Ninian Park touchline and speak to defender Darren Purse.

He was a lovely bloke who knew Steve and even took around a club shirt whilst the players were training on the pitch to sign it for our appeal.

The other key contact today was ex-Albion star John Trewick during our stop at Hereford.

John laughed and joked with us at Edgar Street and even found a rogue banana skin on the pitch saying it was a slippery winger.

A brief chat with club chairman Graham Turner was also welcome and he wished us luck on our future travels.

Swansea's brand new Liberty Stadium was the most impressive arena of the day.

Opened up last October, it majestically stands tall. We even bumped into club boss Robert Martinez.

The two Bristol clubs, City and Rovers, were also brief stops and we completed the southern half of our adventure with a tea-time trip to Cheltenham's Waddon Road home.

A lovely little ground- half-terracing, half seats and a pitch in great end-of-season condition.

To cap off our first week a man followed our bus in his car and gave us £5 when we arrived at Cheltenham.

So far, so good- 1,400 miles travelled, eight signed shirts donated and nearly £700 on our 'just giving' website.

What a start- but like a good football team we won't get complacent and will build on our success.
