The past, present and future of a club was explored as we stand in the centre spot at Shrewsbury Town's Gay Meadow.

Their home since 1910, The Meadow, which has flooded three times this season, shuts for the final time in a couple of weeks.

But standing in the centre circle, having a 360 degree view of the eroding state of the stadium, the threadbare pitch, litter covering the terraced stands from the previous days match and peeling paint- the ground is being discarded, a victim of progress.

I have absolutely no affinity to the club but to be on the pitch (deviod of any grass in some places) was a buzz- fantasising about the memories this ground must house.

A quick two-mile trip across Shrewsbury saw us given a sneak peak of their future, the imaginatively titled New Gay Meadow.

Still a building site, the shell of the stadium is built but no seats have been installed.

A quiet day today with all clubs shut with a hungover from the previous days matches.

During our trip through the Midlands and Cheshire we visited locked up arenas at the likes of Villa, Crew and Chester.

A whistle-stop trip to Walsall's Bescot Stadium was included as we struggled to take a picture amid the clubs weekly chock-a-block market.

Kind-hearted Birmingham City fans dug deep and pledged £13.50 into our fund.
