MORE than £1,200 was raised at a charity head shave in Stourbridge at the weekend in memory of local man Dan Laight.

A friend of Dan's - Ryan Cook - went under the clippers and had his entire head shaved for St Richard’s Hospice as the charity looked after Dan in the weeks before his death.

Ryan was joined by another of Dan's friends – Tony May – in braving the shave at the Greyhound pub, in Norton Road, on Saturday (August 29) evening.

The 26-year-old said: “A lot of people turned up to see what we were doing and helped us raise money. Many more than I thought would attend.

“We are still waiting for a few final donations to come in, but we gone way over what we expected, as when we totalled up on Sunday we had about £1,200, which is brilliant.

“Another friend of Dan’s agreed to also have his head shaved if we reached £1,000. As soon we hit that figure Tony went ahead with his promise.

“Since the shave it’s been very cold, much colder than I expected it to be and I can definitely feel a draft!”
