A hospital in Dudley has unveiled a Memory Tree in tribute to patients and staff who have passed away.

The ornamental metal work at Russells Hall Hospital contains leaves which can be engraved and dedicated in celebration, recognition or remembrance of patients and staff at The Dudley Group NHS Foundation Trust.

The tree, funded by the Dudley Group NHS Charity, is centrally located in the hospital's main walkway which is accessible to staff, visitors and patients.

The handmade sculpture was crafted by Claudia Ashley-Brown, a Hemel-based artist and sculptor.

Stourbridge News: Chief Executive Diane Wake and Head of Patient Experience Jill Faulkner with the Trust's Memory

Diane Wake, chief executive for The Dudley Group, said: "I am delighted that the Memory Tree has come to fruition.

"It’s a stunning piece of art and each leaf will not only provide a unique and meaningful way for people to remember a loved one but will also help our Trust grow further in very symbolic way.”

Jill Faulkner, head of patient experience, said: “It is a pleasure to have made this happen and to be able to recognise patients we have sadly lost, as well as our fabulous staff and their dedication to the Trust.”

Anyone can dedicate a leaf to a patient or loved one for a £65 donation.

The funds raised from engraving leaves will support the charity in enhancing the wellbeing and experience of patients and staff, facilitating services not routinely funded by the NHS or the Trust.

To dedicate a leaf, contact the Trust charity team at dgft.fundraising@nhs.net or call 01384 456111 extension 3349.
