I was listening to the paper review on Sky News this morning where they were discussing the vote on membership of the EEC. One of the presenters raised an interesting question - “If we were not a member of the European Union and we had a vote to join or not, would you vote to go in?” There may be some economic benefits, but it will cost us millions of pounds a year, we would have to open our borders to millions of people and provide them with housing, health cover and education and our laws will be governed by Brussels. Given these arguments, would you vote to join the EEC?
