FA Cup Second Qualifying Round Replay:

Stourbridge 4, Blaby and Whetstone Athletic 1

STOURBRIDGE can set their sights on a long distance trip to Northern League side Shildon later this month after brushing aside Blaby and Whetstone at the second attempt, writes Nick Pullen.

A delayed start due to traffic problems failed to throw the Glassboys out of their stride and they soon took the lead after 15 minutes when Ben Billingham threaded the ball through for right wing back Kyle Haynes to race through on the overlap and ram home past goalkeeper Ben Jackson.

The Glassboys grabbed a second goal on 35 minutes, Billingham cleverly latching onto a loose ball in the Blaby goalmouth and curling home beyond the despairing reach of Jackson.

Blaby strugled to get into their stride - but should have clawed a goal back deep into first half stoppage time when striker Aaron Preston was put through in the clear, but dwelt on the ball far too long with only goalkeeper Dean Coleman to beat and that gave defender Will Richards enough time to get his foot in and clear.

From the following corner, Blaby defender Ryan Hawker headed wide when placed to have done better.

The second half quickly reached a sudden flashpoint when Blaby defender Ross Lavin flattened Billingham with a crude tackle and was instantly sent off after 52 minutes.

Billingham recovered from his ordeal and the Glassboys quickly made Blaby pay when Louis Harris put Kayeldon Brown clean through to crack home six minutes later.

Blaby looked dead and buried at this point - but the 10 men Leicester side clawed a goal back on 66 minutes when striker Stuart Verrall found himself completely unmarked when latching onto Karl Towers long range cross and calmly slotted home past an exposed Coleman.

And Blaby should have bagged a second goal two minutes later when the diminutive Levi Porter was put through a dozy Glassboys defence, but Porter promptly fired wide.

Stourbridge shook off their lethergy in time to add a fourth goal on 75 minutes when Brown headed on for substitute Jordan Fitzpatrick to thunder home a well angled drive.
