TONY Gore has praised his players after they got back to winning ways despite an injury crisis.

Dudley Sports claimed a 2-1 away victory over Shawbury United last Saturday despite losing four first team regulars to injury.

Their task was then made even tougher when losing Jack Hickman within the first 20 minutes of last weekend's clash.

However, a brace from Mitchell Clarke helped his side to three points and got Sports straight back to winning ways after the previous Saturday's loss against local rivals Black Country Rangers.

The victory lifts Dudley into seventh position.

Gore praised the players that came into the side and the debut of new signing Thomas Weston.

He said: "The players that were called on because of the injury problems really stepped up to the mark.

"A big highlight was right back Thomas Weston. He had a brilliant debut and now gives me a selection headache for the next game.

"We had to grind out the result but it was a big win for us and has helped us kick on again after a good start.

"We are well ahead of our aims so far, which is to finish in the top ten and qualify for next season's FA Cup."

Sports don't have a game this weekend but will continue their league campaign against Smethwick next Wednesday.
