TALENTED young BMX rider Ralph Grimmett is preparing for another busy year ahead.

Grimmett, nine, from who attends St Mary’s Primary School in Kingswinford, is now training towards this year’s World Championships in Columbia, in May, and the European Championships in Verona, Italy, in July.

The Birmingham BMX Club rider, who is world-ranked seventh for his age group, goes into 2016 on the back of success in last year’s World and European Championships.

He secured a first-place finish at the Euros in Erp, Netherlands, and seventh at the worlds in Zolder, Belgium.

Mum Kerry Grimmett said: “He is really looking forward to what could be another big year.

“He is very excited about going over to compete in Colombia as well. The whole family will be going to support him.

“His school and teachers have also been very supportive.

“He is currently training four times a week to be ready for the World and European Championships. So he is working very hard and loves the sport.”
