SENIOR swimmers from Halesowen Swimming Club travelled to Coventry’s 50m pool for two days of competition at the West Midlands Swimming Championships.

The swimmers were on fine form with a haul of medals coming their way. Star of the show was Josh Bradley who triumphed to become the West Midlands Regional Champion in the 50m breastroke and the 50m butterfly. He also gained silver in the 100m backstroke and bronze in the 100m butterfly.

Jack Simpson achieved gold in the 15 years age group, in both the 50m and 100m freestyle, whilst James Cuthbert grabbed gold in the 15 years age group 50m butterfly, silver in the 50m and 100m freestyle and bronze in the 100m butterfly.

Jakob Baker managed a full set of bronze medals in the 16 years age group in the 50m, 100m and 200m breastroke, and Emma Bird achieved bronze in the 15 years 200m backstroke.

Lauren Hill just missed out on a medal after getting into the finals, coming fourth in the 50m butterfly and fifth in the 100m butterfly.

The two boys relays teams performed exceptionally with the 14-16 years team coming second in both the freestyle and medley relays. All swimmers achieved personal best times during these close fought races just losing out for top spot to Ellesemere Titans. The team consisted of Jack Simpson, James Cuthbert, Ryan Larkin and Jakob Baker.

The senior men’s relay team achieved silver in the freestyle and bronze in the medley relays. The team consisted of Josh Bradley, Callum Tinsdale, Mark Laing and Zach Collins.
