NETHERTON kept themselves on the coattails of the league’s top two with victory over Rushwick last Saturday.

The clash in Division Three of the Worcestershire County League saw Russell Oseland’s side bag a six-wicket home success after powering through Rushwick’s batting line-up after winning the toss and electing to field.

Ben Bromage top scored for the visitors with just 22 as wickets continued to fall. No one else made double figures as Rushwick were bowled out for 73.

Zoheb Tariq and Matthew Lowe took three wickets each. Lowe’s wickets came for the loss of just three runs as he dispatched the tail.

Dominic Priest also got in on the action as he bagged two wickets for the loss of 19 runs.

Lowe then performed well with the bat as his unbeaten 37 helped his side to their total by the 34th over.

The hosts did lose early wickets, however, as opener Danny Homer (3) and number three Troy Lee (0) both fell cheaply. Paul Harris hit 11 before falling to the bowling of Matt Champion.

However, Lowe did enough to help his side home.

Netherton are now in third place behind leaders Bartestree and Lugwardine and second-placed Harborne. They will now welcome Himbleton to Highbridge Road this Saturday (1pm start).
