BELBROUGHTON returned to winning ways with a 20-run home success over Bewdley in Division One of the Worcestershire County League.

Having being put into bat on a damp pitch, the Tons battled their way to a respectable 196-8. There were plenty of starts for the hosts’ batsmen, Will Pardoe top scoring with 34 not out.

In reply, Bewdley were well set at 100-1 at the half way stage. However, a determined effort saw the visitors being bowled out for 176 with three overs to spare. Stuart Hawk the pick of the bowlers, claiming 3-34.

The club’s seconds lost at Bewdley but the thirds were called off due to the weather.

Belbroughton will look to make it back-to-back wins when they go to bottom side Oldswinford and Stourbridge Social this Saturday (1pm start).

Hagley also got back to winning ways thanks to a 39-run win over Colwall.

Joe Lennon (71) top scored for the hosts as Hagley ended their innings on 188-8. Colwell were bowled out for just 149.

Michael Stead and Dave Painter sent the top three packing before Stead accounted for the middle order.

Hagley bowled out their opponents in the 43rd over.

Hagley face Worcester Nomads away this Saturday (1pm).

Oldswinford and Stour Social picked up their second win at home to local rivals Pedmore.

The hosts smashed 268 after being put into bat, but Pedmore then failed to fire as they only managed 144 in reply.

Pedmore will go to Droitwich Spa this Saturday.

Meanwhile, in Division Two, Enville travelled to local rivals Lye on Saturday looking to turn around a couple of poor performances.

Lye won the toss and inserted the visitors on a very damp pitch. The pitch proved to be very difficult to score on, although Enville seemed to be coming to terms with the conditions as they reached 50 for the loss of only one wicket.

However, their demons struck again as they started losing wickets regularly and finished on what was considered a poor 82 all out off 37 overs. Spencer Mann had been the mainstay of the early innings and ended up with the top score of 25.

Lye’s reply got off to a catastrophic start as George Roberts (1-13) and Rhodri Parfitt (6-28) took early wickets.

Enville’s fielding seemed to have moved up a couple of levels from last week and anything that reached a fielder seemed to stick, including four one-handed catches.

Mark Jenkinson (3-14) was introduced and in partnership with the excellent Parfitt scythed through Lye’s lower order.

Enville will now go to Bredon this Saturday, while Lye travel to take on Feckenham (both 1pm starts).
