Pupils at Shrewsbury School have started a group to fight period poverty known as 'studentaid' by launching a fundraising campaign aimed at raising awareness and providing menstrual hygiene products to those in need.

The campaign known as 'studentaid' aims to combat period poverty by raising funds through various activities and events, including a tuck shop next month at an inter-school Model UN Conference, and further plans to sell period products to students at Shrewsbury School, with the profits generated donated to organizations fighting period poverty. StudentAid co-founder Chelsey D explains that ' With women already suffering so many disadvantages regarding culture and oppression, we must address this issue that affects over 500 million women worldwide. Through our initiative, we hope to reduce period anxiety and period poverty through raising awareness, fundraising, donations and other charitable enterprises. '
